Buddhist Center, Warsaw

Interior design of the Buddhist Meditation Center in Warsaw – Buddha`s Hall, 1300 m2, developed in the years 2015-2024 together with Justyna Smolec. The old paint warehouse, which is part of the historic modernist “Koło” housing estate in Wola, was rebuilt by the Grupa 5 architectural office according to the guidelines of the conservator of monuments. The first floor of the 1st floor, set on concrete joists, was added in such a way as to bring in the maximum amount of daylight through the roof windows. The motif of leaving the concrete structure uncovered has become the overriding idea of interior design. The coldness and rawness of the concrete were balanced by a large amount of oak veneer. The resort consists of a meditation room of more than 200 m2, a lobby space with kitchen, dining room, living, public bathrooms, resident rooms, private bathrooms, mezzanine with library and auxiliary rooms. The old part of the center is connected to the Buddha Hall by a glass connector filled with vegetation.
